First of all, how cool is the name? I love it.
Second, have you ever been to a SAUNA DETOX STUDIO? I hadn’t until today but it was easily one of the most AMAZING things I’ve ever done.
So I was initially interested because of the detox element of it! After my explant surgery I knew that I would need to start detoxing all of the toxins that my implants distributed through my body… And if y’all remember me sharing – I had an insane level of heavy metals + toxins in my blood. A friend mentioned a new studio that had opened here in South Tampa, Sweatology, and I started doing some research and quickly thereafter reached out to make an appointment.
I totally wasn’t sure what to expect but went in with an open mind and excited to have what I kept hearing + reading was an incredible experience. Unlike a traditional sauna where you sit on a bench in a room (which heat the body from the outside-in) these FDA-approved infrared saunas heat the body from the inside-out! It also kills 99% of bacteria that creates a sterile environment. (Something to note for you germaphobes. 😜)
I learned that while detox is a HUGE aspect of it there was so much more.
🔺DETOX (bye, toxins!)
🔺WEIGHT LOSS (600 calories in a 30 minute session!)
🔺ANTI-AGING (increases circulation which revitalizes the skin, reduces pore size, stimulates collagen)
🔺HEALING (kills even the most resistant bacteria)
🔺PAIN RELIEF (joints, tissues, muscles)
🔺RELAXATION (decrease cortisol and increase serotonin)
🔺STIMULATION (stimulate the circulatory system which gives you energy)
🔺RECOVERY (benefit sore, tired muscles post-workout)
The beds also utilize chromotherapy which is a type of colored light therapy. The different lights that shine on you during the session offer relief for different things. Yes, they’re more than just being pretty as I first thought. 😂😍
I mean. I’m sorry but does this not sound like the best thing ever?
I felt amazing after my first session and the goodness only continued with each trip there.
So what does a session look like?
You go into your own (adorable) little room where they supply you with a big fuzzy towel for when you get out, and some ice cold wash cloths that you can use while you’re lying in the bed. You get undressed and slide into the bed which is covered in a terry-cloth material. You slide the top of the bed down as you get in and pull it back up once you’re in. You can control the level of heat from a remote control by your beside as well as the duration you’re in there. I opted for 30 minute sweats but they do have longer sweats as well. There is a little stand for your phone if you want to listen to music but I opted for silence while in there, to just relax. You will sweat. A LOT. The more sweat, the better! The chromotherapy lights are right at the top of the bed so they’re visible to you during the entire session! Once your time is up, you slide the top of the bed back and step out where a big fuzzy towel is waiting to dry you off. You also are given the option to have a second ice cold washcloth brought in halfway through your session as well, which I think is such a nice touch. You are completely covered inside the bed, so if you’re modest like me, you don’t need to worry about that! Ice cold water is waiting for you when you head back out to the lobby and they have a cute little reception area where you can drink your water (or get some yummy juice) before heading out. Sometimes I like to take a minute just to hang there and cool down before I drive home.
What benefits did I see?
For me, I just started feeling better. I know that it was from the toxins leaving my body through each session.
How often do you go?
That’s entirely up to you and also why you’re going. I was going 3X a week for the first 2 weeks and then I switched to 2X a week for 2 months. Now I’m going to be going 2X a month as I’m feeling so much better!
A look inside the studio!
Wanted to give you all a little glimpse into the studio itself. I just love places that have an amazing aesthetic and this one is so chic.
As always, if y’all have questions I didn’t answer please shoot me a message and let me know!
