I like big phones and I cannot lie. But, I also have small hands and I tend to drop my phone much more often than I would like to admit… Anyone else?
Which is when I started doing some research on ways that could help me to hold my phone better and more securely and prevent “the drop” from happening as frequently which is when I stumbled upon two of the most popular options on the market today POPSOCKETS and LOOPY CASES.
At first I was very “eh” about the idea of adding something additional to my phone or having an extra “thing” hanging off my phone. Thought it would look “ugly” (even though that is probably incredibly silly.) But after visiting both vendors websites and browsing their selections BOTH had super cute options (that were both affordable!) The Loopy Case was $35 and the PopSockets was $15, not too bad right?
The Loopy Case arrived first (SUPER quickly actually) I ordered on November 6th, it shipped the same day and I had it by November 9th! And nope, that wasn’t through Amazon, that was through their actual website! Upon opening the box I thought SUPER CUTE! The quality was great and it felt like a really durable case (outside of the little loop feature itself). This was the one I picked out. Now… My initial reaction when putting it onto my phone was “what do I do with my hands?” Admittedly it felt awkward at first and I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it. BUT – after jumping into Instagram and attempting to film an Instagram Story with it I quickly realized how helpful this loop for my finger was going to be. The awkward holding of the iPhone 8 Plus instantly became easier. Yes, it still felt a tad awkward but I could see the benefit.
On the inside of the phone I saw these protruding pieces of rubber (I think) and I wasn’t sure how I was going to squish my phone on top of them and still have my phone lie flat. But, it did! You slide your phone in so that it presses down on the rubber pieces and your phone (while a little elevated) will lay flat. After using the Loopy Case for just 24 hours I was a believer. I legit loved this thing and almost regretted ordering the PopSockets because I didn’t want to take my Loopy Case off! BUT, how good of a review would this be if I wasn’t able to compare the two, right? 😉 Definitely love the Loopy Case – my fingers got used to it within a day and it is super helpful in holding your phone, carrying it around, texting, etc. A few days later my PopSockets arrived! The shipping on this was fairly quick as well, I ordered on November 6th, it shipped out the 7th and I had it in hand by November 13th.
My first impressions when opening it out of the box was it’s really pretty! I got the Rose Gold Metallic Diamond and the quality was great! I wasn’t sure exactly where to place it on my phone case… Which I’ve come to find it’s completely preference from person to person, not a specific required spot. I originally placed it right in the middle, moved it downward a tad, and moved it back up to the middle – that just feels most comfortable for me. I’ve seen people place it in a variety of different places! First impression using it? I thought it was uncomfortable. Gosh I fail at this. BUT, as with the Loopy Case I knew I needed to give it some time and let my fingers adjust… It is a completely different feel than the Loopy! There was a bit more of “learning curve” for me with this one… And maybe it was because I started with the Loopy Case first and it’s a completely different feel – I’m not sure. But it took me a few days to get comfortable with the PopSockets. NOW, I’m loving it! But it did take a few days for me to adjust. So if you do get one and you want to dismiss it immediately I urge you to give it a few days of use! One of the things I REALLY love about the PopSockets that has a slight advantage over the Loopy Case is the ability to use it as a stand. I love propping it up on the counter to read a recipe or to view messages, or simply to just not have it placed flat down (as I type this it’s propped up next to me on my desk.) Another HUGE benefit of the PopSockets is the CAR MOUNT! Oh my goodness I LOVE this thing! Being able to put my phone into the mount and stream movies for the kids or navigate Google Maps (because of course I prefer that to my in-car navigation, lol) to easily switch out music without looking down at my phone… and ALSO it prevents me from being tempted to text and drive. You pick a place in your car to mount it (yes, I mounted it on my hazard lights button, lol) and you wait 8 hours before you place your phone into it. I did it at night and let it “set” overnight and placed my phone into it in the morning and it has been great! You do want to make sure where you place it is where you want it because once you stick it, you can’t move it! So now that I’ve given you guys the run-down on both…. You’re probably wondering which I like better… And the honest to goodness response is I CAN NOT CHOOSE. I really do like them both, but for different reasons.
I like the way the Loopy Case FEELS better as far as carrying it, texting with it, etc.
I like the extra factors about the PopSockets better as far as being able to use it as a stand and being able to mount it in my car.
Looks-wise I really do like them both BUT since I JUST got the iPhone 8 Plus not long ago I do like having a clear case so I can SEE my phone as opposed to the completely covered casing of the Loopy (although the rose gold marble IS gorgeous.)
ALSO – it must be said the customer service I experienced with BOTH companies was incredible. Customer Service is HUGE for me when ordering from a company and I was really impressed with both.
So at the end of the day, honestly guys, I don’t think you can go wrong with either one of them. I really do think they’re both awesome products and they definitely help SO much with carrying your phone and making life just a tad bit easier. I really don’t know how I could go back to a regular with after using both of these!
Oh… And I haven’t dropped my phone once since using these! That’s pretty much a huge win in itself. 😉
And no, I wasn’t compensated for this review or given product for free. All opinions are my own. 🙂
