So, you’ve probably heard about how EPIC Lululemon leggings are, right? How their super soft fabric hugs your body in all the right ways and in all the right places? Yeah, it’s all true. But… you’ve already probably heard about the whopping price tag associated with Lululemon too. I remember when I first walked into a Lululemon store and I flipped over the tag and saw $98 on the back and almost had a heart attack. How in the ____ are a pair of leggings almost $100? Until I put them on and looked at my butt… And then I understood… Ha!
However… despite how amazing they fit it’s still a tough pill to swallow to spend that kind of money on a stretchy piece of fabric, regardless of how well it hugs your booty. So I’ve literally been on the HUNT for a Lululemon Look-alike, that looks and fits the same without the big price tag attached… And after a couple YEARS of looking – I found one. And it is one of my most exciting finds ever.
90 Degree By Reflex ($18.99 Amazon Prime, baby.)
I first heard about them from a friend who was raving about her new leggings that looked and felt just like Lululemon and she couldn’t believe she snagged them for less than $20. So of course, being the true Amazon Prime addict that I am I immediately jumped on Amazon and searched for them… And proceeded to order 4 pairs… Because I mean, obviously?
The first thing I did when the package arrived was run and grab a pair of my Lululemon WunderUnder leggings to compare them to… Because, right out of the package? Well, I was shocked at their similarity! The bottom pair are the 90 Degree By Reflex and the ones on top are my Lulus (even the little logo is similar).
My first impression of the fabric was that it felt similar to Lululemon’s Align leggings but the construction and the fit were similar to Lululemon Wunderunder leggings. It’s like a little hybrid of my two favorite types of Lululemon leggings. I purchased them in the “Capris” version but they also come in a “Full-Length” too.
One of my biggest questions I have with “lower cost” leggings are the level of “see-throughablity” of them, haha. I mean, the last thing you want to happen is bending over in your new leggings and you give a “show” to everyone around you, right? Safe to say, the material on these is not see-through (it’s pretty thick actually) and there won’t be any unplanned “shows” to the people working out around you (or at the grocery store when you’re bending over for that can of soup.)
Another question I have with leggings (of any price range) are how they hold up! Do they get that fuzzy “pilling” on them after one watch? Do I have to hand wash them? Do I have to wash in cold and hang to dry? Do they get “runs” in them in the fabric? So I’m one of those people that just flat-out will not do multiple loads of laundry based on the fabric of my clothes. I know I’m awful and lazy. Everything gets washed together in warm water and dried on low heat. Including the leggings. And I’m happy to report that they hold up GREAT. Haven’t had any pilling or runs. In fact, I want to say my Lululemon leggings are even more delicate to the pilling than these are.
They come in tons of colors, which is always a bonus! I hate when I find an article of clothing that I love and it only comes in one or two colors – right? From left to right I got Cereza, Fuchsia, Lapis Blue and Seagreen and there are about 6 or 7 other options for colors on Amazon.
And of course the question everyone needs to know… HOW DO THEY FIT? For length, as a reference point I’m 5’4 and they fall right at my shin. As far as size, I almost always order things in a size small and these were no exception so I would say they fit true to size. However, I have heard people that are between sizes (say small or medium) size down because they run a little big.
I love the way the colors POP and I may or may not wear these outside of my little home gym as well… 😉 Hey, they’re cute!
