We’ve all heard of The Kardashians.
We’ve all heard of The Jenners.
We’ve all heard of Kylie Jenner.
And we’ve all heard about Kylie Cosmetics.
But – have you given in and tried it?
I’ll admit, I was resistant. I thought this was just another celeb creating a make-up line and it wasn’t going to live up to the hype. So when I saw there was a big buy 1 get 1 50% off sale I thought YOLO, now is the time to try this out!
So first to note, the pricing isn’t bad at all. It’s $29 for the lip kit which contains the lipstick AND the lip liner. That’s totally affordable. Especially considering Lipsense (the product I’ve been using for years) is $25 just for the color and you have to pay another $20 for the gloss you put on top and then $10 for the product to take it off. That adds up.
As far as shipping, it shipped & arrived super quickly (which I absolutely loved and appreciated). The packaging was super cute! I totally loved it. Clean and chic (and I totally kept the box).
For the Kylie’s Lip Kit colors I chose “Kylie’s Favs” and got Exposed, Kristen, Posie K and Candy K.
Kylie’s Lip Kits come as a set with both the lipstick and the lipliner. The lipsticks are “gloss style” as far as the lip wand but they dry matte, like a lipstick. At first I was concerned they would be really drying – but they’re not. Of course, if you’re used to a wet gloss, any matte lipstick will feel dry to you but compared to other brands I’ve used these did not try out my lips! Admittedly, I’ve never been a lip liner person. I don’t know, I think it just made me think too much of Selena via 1992. But I’m happy to report that the lip liner has come a long way and I LOVE the way using it makes my lips look.
The KOKO by Kylie line has more of a glossy feel putting it on which was one of the first things I noticed. It does dry matte though! And from Khloe’s “In Love With The Koko” kit I got Sugar Plum, Baby Girl and Doll.
So how do they last? Surprisingly, they lasted for pretty much the entire day and held up to food and drink. I’ve almost completely stopped using my Lipsense (which was my go-t0 lippie for the past couple of years) and have switched almost exclusively to using Kylie’s Lip Kit.
A lot of people have asked me what I could compare it to and I think the closest comparison I can give it that I’ve used is Colour Pop. Although, I don’t think Colour Pop lasts nearly as long and can sometimes get a little “chunky” on the lips after wearing it through a meal.
Something to note though, Kylie Cosmetics IS hard to get off if you’re only wearing it for a quick trip out. I’ve made the mistake of putting it on just for a quick bite to eat and I’ve ended up going to bed wearing it because even after washing my face… It’s still there. However, if you’re putting on in the morning, be prepared for it to last the bulk of the day!
Another thing I love about it is how easy it is to do touch-ups. With Lipsense and Colour Pop if I need to touch up the color (where spots have faded after eating;/drinking) it tends to get clumpy… Not the case with Kylie’s lippies, though!
So how does it look? Sharing some selfies below!
I’m wearing Khloe’s “Baby Girl” here. It’s classified as a “warm, muted coral.”
And these two are from Kylie’s line, EXPOSED. This one is probably my favorite.
This one is from Khloe’s line – Doll! Which is described as a true bright tangerine (I think it has a hint of red to it, too.)
This one is Kristen! Which is described as a warm brown berry.
This one is Candy K! Which is described as a warm, pinky nude!
I hope that helps, babes! If you have any other questions I didn’t mention in the post you know what to do… Drop me a message here and I’ll get back to you!
