OUR KITCHEN USED TO BE FULL OF CLUTTER. 😦
Yes, it’s true. 😵
I know, hard to believe. 😝
I don’t know about y’all… But clutter drives me BONKERS. 🤪
I can’t explain exactly where it comes from but the dishes left on the counter, papers strewn about, the boy’s NERF bullets stuck on top of cabinets, Dan’s socks left on barstools… 🤯
Y’all I live in a house of boys, it’s not always easy. 😂
So when we moved into this new house I vowed to myself I would do a better job of keeping control of the clutter and staying more organized. 🙃 We got rid of tons of unneeded and unused appliances and other items stuffed in the kitchen cabinets that were seemingly collecting dust and only keep the ones most commonly used on the kitchen counters (blender, toaster, tea kettle, etc.)
My “keep out declutter” methods are nothing earth shattering… And it’s definitely not always clean (check back in in 30 minutes when I pick the kids up from the bus stop, lol) but it helps!
👉🏼 Tip 1: storage containers & sorters.
I have plastic storage bins labeled for the boys’ school work, mail, paperwork, etc. I keep ours in the guest room closet but really you could keep them anywhere (even clear out space in a kitchen cabinet or pantry for easy storage access.)
👉🏼 Tip 2: mini pick-up sessions throughout the day.
Something else I used to do was let it pile up all day and “do it before I went to bed” which realistically means it’s not going to happen because normally we’re all tired AF by the time “bed time” rolls around especially when staring down a mound of “mess” all over the kitchen.
Now I do 5 minute “tidying up” cleans throughout the day. Put the dishes in the sink or dishwasher, pick up the toys and random articles of clothing that seem to populate, wipe down the counter, etc.
Sounds so much more doable when it’s a small amount of things vs a mound of clutter, right? 😀
