I’m one of those people who can’t paint my nails to save my life. They typically look like my 6 year old painted them (actually, he probably would do a better job) and they never last more than 48 hours before they start chipping away. So I’m always intrigued by other nail options that don’t require me to paint them myself or spend $30 at the nail salon for a gel manicure.
A couple of years ago I was introduced to nail wraps called Jamberry. I loved them for what they were (fun designs that I didn’t have to paint on) but the process of putting them on was a tad tedious. You had to measure them onto your finger, place them on, use a heat fan to adhere them, trim them up, etc. And then – after all that – they usually started peeling off within a couple days of wearing them…
SO – when I heard from a friend about something new called Color Street I was definitely intrigued but a lot a little skeptical about them working. She explained that these aren’t a “sticker”, like Jamberry, it was actually nail polish strips that go on your nails and adhere in the same way polish does (and no heater needed.)
They come in little sealed packages with two sets of nail strips. One for each hand and a different size for each finger.
Directions are laid out on the back of the package:
- Remove clear cover
- Peel polish strip
- Tear tab and select end
- Apply to nail & gently stretch to fit
- File excess (I have short nails so I actually cut the excess and then filed.)
The package also came with Nail Prep Pads. The polish strip will adhere best to a clean nail and these pads wipe off excess oil or anything else that might make it difficult for the polish strip to properly stick!
I chose rose gold glitter nails for my first set because, I mean, obviously. Pink + Glitter + Sparkles = every time.
You can peel each nail strip away to fit it onto your finger and find the best fit and if you have short nails you can actually use one strip for both hands (which is what I did) which means you get double the use out of one set!
Putting them on was fairly straight forward and easy! Fit to your nail, smooth down with your finger, trim excess (with scissor or file) and finished! It probably took me about 20 minutes to do both hands which isn’t too bad considering it was my first time!
I’ll be updating you guys to let you know how they hold up and how long they last! I’m hoping for at least a week so let’s see! In the meantime, I’m going to enjoy my pink sparkles!
