Let’s talk teeth.
But more specifically how to clean them.
With a super cute toothbrush.
I don’t know about you but I 100% got sucked into the Facebook / Instagram ads that were running about this all-black toothbrush that Burst Oral Care released. There was a woman cleaning a dirty corn on the cob with her toothbrush and it was eating up all that mess like a boss. If you haven’t seen the video, check out the video below, it’s too good not to share.
I mean… That’s pretty impressive.
And that corn on the cob totally reminds me of what my teeth look like when I use activated charcoal.
But I digress.
So the corn video sucked me in and being that my current toothbrush was going on 3 years (and having so many battery issues) I thought it might be time to switch it up and this little black brush seemed like the way to go. And just like that my new Burst toothbrush was on it’s way and a week later arrived in my mailbox.
Let’s unbox, shall we?

My first impression?
It’s a sleek little thing.
Normally I would have chosen white (and there is a white option) but there was just something so unique about an all-black toothbrush that drew me in. So I went that route. And I have to say, it totally does make it’s own statement and it looks real pretty on my bathroom counter.
A lot of people were “eh” about the bristles being black. But there is a purpose for it and it’s not just an aesthetics thing like I had originally assumed. They’re actually CHARCOAL BRISTLES and Binchotan charcoal is proven to absorb impurities for brighter, whiter teeth. Who knew? And no, it doesn’t leave a charcoal residue on your teeth (or taste like anything different, either) you’ll just reap the benefits of even whiter teeth!

Do I love it?
I do. I really do. And I’ve used a lot of electric toothbrushes. At first, compared to my pink Philips Sonicare Diamond toothbrush which is priced at almost $200 I thought there was no way this $69 toothbrush was going to compare. The first time brushing my teeth with it I noticed that the “vibration” wasn’t as “strong” as the Philips and I was worried that ultimately meant it wasn’t going to clean my teeth as well. I had also used a Quip Toothbrush in the past and while it was a lower price point (I believe $25) the lackluster vibration it offered just left me thinking it’s cleaning my teeth no better than a $2.99 disposable toothbrush.
HOWEVER. The Burst Oral Care proved me wrong. (And no, they aren’t paying me to say this.) Despite having not as “intense” a vibration I think it cleans my teeth just as well as my former $200 toothbrush. Pretty awesome, right?
Q & A
Before you ask, thought I would drop some of the most commonly asked questions below!
What do all the little buttons do (the + and – on the brush)?
To shuffle between modes, press the power button in fast succession. The first mode is whitening at 33,000 sonic vibrations, the second mode is sensitivity mode and the third, lowest mode is massage.
Why does it cut out after two minutes?
Dentists recommend we brush our teeth for 2 minutes! Burst Oral totally agrees which is why they installed the 2 minute timer.
Why is an electronic toothbrush better?
Well, did you know that a sonic powered toothbrush will remove between 6-7X more plaque than a regular manual brush? I didn’t, but I think that’s a pretty awesome stat. Its all time that we move across into the 21st century and look after your teeth in the way that they deserve. Many people have steered away from electric toothbrushes because of… price. But at this price point – feels way more doable!
How will I know my toothbrush is charging?
When plugged in, the plus sign on the base will illuminate in red. When the brush is done charging, the light will simply turn off.
How frequently should I change my Burst head?
We suggest you change your brush head every quarter, which is why our subscription runs every three months ($6.99 replacement head.)
Can I use my toothbrush in the shower?
Sure can!
What’s the warranty on my Burst brush if it breaks?
Two years standard *but* while you stay subscribed it’s WARRANTY FOR LIFE
Can I use this product with braces?
Yes. The soft bristles are perfectly safe with braces!
